Getting to the ridge.
Shaukiyathal is 90 kms (56 miles) from Haldwani / Kathgodam Railway station and approximately 400 km from Delhi NCR. The road climbs steadily after Almora town. There is no other way to arrive than slowly.
We consider the drive to be the beginning of the stay, not a preamble to it. Guests who arrive by our arranged transfer report the transition happens somewhere on the mountain road — the phone signal fades, the air changes.
Guests who have driven themselves frequently comment on the transition that happens somewhere between Bhimtal and the ridge: the phone signal fades, the road narrows, the air changes. By the time you arrive at Kot Kailash, you have already begun to decompress.

Questions about getting here.
What are the GPS coordinates?
Lat: 29.6372° N, Long: 79.8466° E. Search "Jageshwar Almora" on Google Maps, then follow the Shaukiyathal ridge road 2 km north of the temple complex.
Can I drive my own car?
Yes. The road is tarred up to the property. A standard sedan handles it easily. SUV/4WD not required, though preferred in winter.
Do you arrange pickups?
Yes. We arrange airport/station pickup from Kathgodam, Haldwani, or Pantnagar. Share your arrival details at info@kotkailash.com.
What is the road condition?
Good. NHAI and PWD maintain the Almora–Jageshwar corridor. The final 6 km on the ridge road is a single-lane forest track — scenic and manageable.
Is there mobile signal on the way?
Jio and BSNL have signal throughout. Airtel is patchy between Almora and Jageshwar. The property itself has Wi-Fi.
Best time to drive?
October–June is ideal. The route is passable year-round, though the mountain section can see brief closures in heavy snowfall (Jan–Feb). We inform guests in advance.
